Pretty Lights

Pretty Lights is the alias of Denver's Derek Vincent Smith, who combines the crate-digging ethos of classic hip-hop with the crowd-moving M.O. of electronic dance music. Pretty Lights' first album was released for free via the artist's own website in 2006; he followed it up with 2008's Filling Up the City Skies and 2009's Passing By Behind Your Eyes. Onstage, Smith is joined by drummer Cory Eberhard in a dynamic fusion of electronic sequences and live percussion -- a combination that has helped the project move beyond the clubs and find an increasing fan base on the jam-band circuit and at festivals like Bonnaroo and the Electric Daisy Carnival.
