Slip into your vintage bell bottoms, boys and girls. Howlin Rain return with another groovy platter of hard-rock revivalism (their first for Rick Rubin's American imprint, incidentally). The references come thick and fast: Santana, Free, Allmans, even a little Wishbone Ash. But the 1970s-era template the band most loves to emulate is that of the shaggy, bluesy, sub-Zeppelin boogie beast, think Cactus and Leaf Hound. Numerous jams break the six-minute mark; this, of course, is mandatory seeing as how singer Ethan Miller enjoys unloading philosophical treatises on the open road and hard times.
