John Doe (Alt Country)

John Doe, former bassist/vocalist for the highly influential L.A. punk band X, goes it alone and branches out from his Punk roots. Here Doe melds Jangle Pop with crunchy background guitars and scattered Rockabilly riffs. Unlike the rough-edged punk of X, the sound lies closer to rootsy Alternative Rock with a slight country twang. The backing band, by the way, is borrowed from fellow freewheelin' experimenter Beck.
