Party Rock (Edited)
LMFAO
Released:
Jul 2009
Label:
Will I Am / Interscope / Party Rock / Cherrytree
If you hadn't guessed it from the name, party hip-hop sensations LMFAO make music that's not meant to be taken seriously. Borrowing garish synths from Daft Punk and Dirty South hip-hop, they drawl mildly NSFW lyrics over oonce-oonce electro-booty. It's a bit like the gag-rap perfected on the Lonely Island's "I'm on a Boat," but lower-brow and lower-fi. From "Eye of the Tiger" samples to a buzzy nu-electro ode called "Lil' Hipster Girl," LMFAO play straight to their irony-loving demographic, secure in the belief that "What happens in the club, stays in the club."
