Biography

With a dreamy name like Neon Trees, you'd think the band were all about dressing up like Crockett and Tubbs and making a little chillwave magick. In actuality, the band specializes in anthemic, New Romantic-inspired pop not unlike The Killers and The Bravery. Lead vocalist Tyler Glenn possesses the same knack for lyrical sass that made Brandon Flowers such a rock star. There is no better evidence than the track "In the Next Room." "You make love to everything you touch," salaciously croons Glenn. "It's a natural reaction. It's a sexual attraction." The band came together in 2005, quickly becoming a hot club act around Salt Lake City. With an ever-growing fanbase of Mormon youth and indie hipsters, Neon Trees soon caught the ear of Ronnie Vannucci Jr. of The Killers. (Believe it or not, The Killers' drummer used to be in a ska band with Trees bassist Branden Campbell.) Vannucci liked what he heard and helped get the band signed to Mercury Records. The act released its debut album, Habits, in the spring of 2010. The album fared extremely well, with lead single "Animal" appearing in numerous commercials.
