Terence Trent D'Arby

Terence Trent D'Arby may have received short shrift in the public eye. His major hits were some of the more thoughtful, interesting offerings bobbing around the strange sea of late '80s radio. Both "Wishing Well" and "Sign Your Name" hit the Top-5, and "Wishing Well" found its way to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts. Such success wasn't enough to sustain D'Arby's career, however. Despite his soulful, genre-crossing style and ingratiating, gravelly voice, subsequent offerings proved too diverse for the mainstream, and he never found his way back onto the charts.
