Biography

The Whitest Boy Alive is yet another project from Norway's Erlend Oye, who came to prominence with the indie-folk duo Kings of Convenience before moving to Berlin. There, in the global dance-music capital, he became better known as a DJ and indie-dance "it boy," frequently appearing on records by the likes of DJ Hell, Phonique, Ada and James Figurine. He formed The Whitest Boy Alive in 2003 as an electronic project, but it gradually took on members and morphed into a traditional rock lineup of guitar, bass, drums and keyboards -- fronted, of course, by Oye's distinctive croon. They released their first album, Dreams, in 2006 and followed up with Rules three years later.
