Vanessa Carlton

Vanessa Carlton shares some stylistic company with big shots Alicia Keys and Fiona Apple but her music is more closely related to ambiguous Prog Rock influences than either. Songwriting-wise Carlton follows paths set by Fiona Apple but her keyboarded, heavily-orchestrated music often recalls Rick Wakeman and Pink Floyd. The results, when they work, are certainly impressive as her debut single, "A Thousand Miles" proves.
