Description

The term tech-house originally referred to the more experimental side of the house scene (for instance, Swayzak and Funk D'Void), but has come to mean any trance-free 4/4 music that's neither pure techno nor pure house. Layo Paskin of Layo & Bushwacka! put it best: "Tech-house is what girls call techno and boys call house." Naturally, this leads to the tech-house moniker being attached to anything from early Chicago house tracks to minimalist dancefloor techno, but, generally speaking, if you take one part acid house rhythm and one part progressive house, mix in a clean, simple production style and make sure it's played at London's The End or Fabric nightclubs, then that's tech.
